Te Korito Alpacas is open between 10am and 5pm for farm visits all year round. As we only host families and small groups, we have chosen to offer an individual experience.
An introductory talk is followed by meeting the alpacas, hand feeding and interacting with them. Depending on the time of year, you may also see young crias (baby alpacas), alpacas in full fleece or smoothly sheared or the alpacas sunning themselves or relaxing in the shade. Whichever it is, you will find them calming and a pleasure to be with. The main attraction for many is taking an alpaca on a lead for a walk around our farm paddocks and along the riverbank. The walk is easy but you are recommended to wear closed shoes, not jandals. There will be plenty of time for photos!
Afterwards, visitors can examine raw and processed fleeces and be shown how these are processed into beautiful products. Te Korito Alpacas processes, hand spins and knits only its own finest alpaca fleeces into a range of garments for sale.
Please allow around one and a half hours for your visit, which includes the walk.
Booking your visit is essential as we need to time to do the farm work and ensure that all the alpacas are cared for properly.

Poor weather may mean that booked visits need to be postponed (rain or strong winds are no fun for alpacas or visitors!). We will contact you if the weather looks unsuitable to visit.
